I created “On The Broken Road Between Reality And Truth” when I discovered that my best friend and muse, Deanne Hastings, had been found after being declared a missing person for several days during her trip home back around 2010. This painting contains pieces of a letter I wrote her (reflecting upon my thoughts and what I wanted to say to her at that time) as well as her earrings and some cloth she had left me the last time I had seen her. We all lose our way at one point or another. Keep your eyes open for the spark that will illuminate your path On The Broken Road Between Reality And Truth-

Tragically, Deanne went missing again in 2015 and has yet to be found. It is suspected that she was murdered but there has been no closure to date.
Deanne always called me her “Wings” and is the reason I have them tattooed on my back. I just wish I could have there for her this last time when she really needed me most. I could sense the call was going to come, but it never did, and part of me knew why. I’ve always felt that I failed her by not being there that last time, though I wanted to be and would have been. I think one of the reasons I work so hard is because of Deanne. I always tried so hard to impress her and make her proud. The last time I saw her, she told me she was. I will forever do whatever I can to keep her spirit alive through my creations. She is now my “Wings” and my angel. I love you Deanne.

I started sharing the #MostlyForHer pieces for those struggling to find love or their place in this world, whether that be for a second, an hour, a day, or your entire life. The fact that the thing connecting me most to this world is my disassociation from it aptly alludes to the tragic comedy of life…a beautiful disaster spilled upon a raw canvas for all to view on exhibit and publicly judge as they see fit.

Keep your head up, Love. Life is written in the scars.

Message me to get your poem. You make what I do possible. Thank you 😘

Fresh paint and new work available. I had the honor and privilege yesterday to do a studio tour. The collector reminded me that seeing my work in photos is just nothing compared to the experience of seeing them and feeling them in person. If you’re looking to add work to your collection and want to schedule a studio tour, contact me.

Is there a date that stands out when your wings were ripped away?

She let go as if yesterday never existed and held on as if there was no tomorrow.
