Vote, 2018, Libby VanderPloeg
If you’re in the US, remember to vote today. Yes, the lines are going to be long but do it anyway. I voted this morning and even though there were only four people a head of me it took an hour because the volunteers were so incompetent. However, I still voted because I know my vote makes a difference. Especially in these midterm elections. That’s were change really happens.
So remember to vote today, let’s try to fix this dumpster fire of a country while we still can.
If your interested in donating to a charity that will help the immigrant children (or just children in the foster care system in general) I definitely recommend Comfort Cases: https://www.comfortcases.org/
They provide kids in foster care with a backpack or duffle bag, pajamas, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, a stuffed animal, a small blanket, a book, and either a coloring book and crayons or a journal and pens.
Kids in the foster care system have very few possessions and have to carry what little they have in black trash bags when they move from house to house. This helps give them the comfort and the dignity that they need.
I was in foster care from when I was born to when I was 13 months old. I fortunately was adopted by a loving family, but so many kids are stuck in the system, and never find a forever home.
Please if you can help- this charity is important. These kids might be in foster care for a while while things get figured out, some might spend their whole childhoods there- it’s important to give them back some humanity while they are in such terrible situations.
