As every story has a past, present, and future…

As every story has a past, present, and future, what may at first glimpse appear to be non-objective abstraction is in fact energetic imagery interacting and breathing through the boundlessness of space and time.

Featured: Falling Towards The Sky. Acrylic on canvas. Variable orientation. 60in x 96in. This painting is about being a dreamer, defying the odds of even physics, and doing the impossible. It’s one of my lighter, more hopeful paintings and a glimpse into heaven as a blue veil of clouds is pulled aside like a curtain so as to find a safe place to land and rest. This painting will have it’s upcoming gallery debut with Sparks Gallery in the Gaslamp Quarter. Stay tuned!

Painting has always given me my purpose. I&rsq…

Painting has always given me my purpose. I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember and I don’t really even recall a time before I was creating. Perhaps it’s because that’s when I started living. Painting has been the only way I feel I’ve ever been able to effectively communicate with the world, and sometimes more than others. There have been some exhilarating highs and massively debilitating lows, but they’ve always been right there on the canvas for public view like a personal exhibition of the soul with no admittance fee. There have been days that I’ve felt like a master of my art, and many more days that I’ve felt like a beginner and wondered why I even try or if I can ever get back to what I personally consider my best state. I like to believe each night I forget how to paint so each day I can learn again…every day a fresh start and a fresh blank canvas. It has been a journey with many twists and turns, much like the painted stories themselves, and where it goes next I am eager to see unfold. Each stroke is a thought, a voice, and an opportunity for growth and change. When you are born into a world that seemingly has no place for you…create your own.

How do you find your muse? What triggers your …

How do you find your muse? What triggers your passion for each brush stroke? I just started painting again after a 5 year break after recovering from a 3 month coma and I can’t find mine anywhere. I have a studio room full of blank canvas and untouched oils and dusty brushes. I’ve tried so hard to get it back but I’ve lost my way.

You don’t really find your muse so much as your muse finds you, but your muse must find you working. The passion comes from being lost and the desire to find myself. I think you have the perfect starting point of waking up from which you can rise and do/become anything you want. Don’t focus so much on exactly where you will go and how so much as the baby steps of rising up a bit at a time after a long rest. Your life is your blank canvas now. I’m trying to get back up myself right now after losing my way. You are not alone and perhaps we can rise together.
