“As The Caged Bird Sings.” Acrylic on canvas. 72in x 45in. Original and prints available. Message me for inquiries.

This painting is dedicated to my best friend and muse, Deanne Hastings, who tragically went missing in 2015 and has yet to be found. It is suspected that she was murdered but there has been no closure to date. Deanne once asked me to do a huge painting with a giant pair of wings. This is my tribute to her.
Deanne always called me her “Wings” and is the reason I have them tattooed on my back. I just wish I could have there for her this last time when she really needed me most. I could sense the call was going to come, but it never did, and part of me knew why. I’ve always felt that I failed her by not being there that last time, though I wanted to be and would have been. I think one of the reasons I work so hard is because of Deanne. I always tried so hard to impress her and make her proud. The last time I saw her, she told me she was. I will forever do whatever I can to keep her spirit alive through my creations. She is now my “Wings” and my angel. I love you Deanne.

Deanne inspired a number of my my best and most personal paintings. I keep reminders of her in my studio, including the last postcard from a tribute exhibition I did for her in 2010 that portrays the very first painting she ever inspired, “Midnight Dancer (Take Me Away).” I also have her handprints from her last visit, which she placed on my “10 Year Floor Canvas,” framed and always within view. I will never part with those. The remainder of the paintings she inspired were sent to her family for her children to one day have…happy and beautiful memories of their mother.

When you buy artist direct from a starving artist, you put paint on the palette and food on the table. You make what I do possible and I simply couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for being a part of my journey!

Braska also wanted me to remind you that when you write positive reviews on my website, Facebook, and Yelp, you really help us grow. Word of mouth and referrals are the primary method of growth as a small and independent business with limited resources. Every penny that comes in for us goes right back into the work (or to the kitty clowder) and affords us the opportunity to provide additional options to people that need a little assistance through easy payment plans, flexible pricing on select works, and monthly giveaways. Anytime you write a review for Carini Arts or share my work, you’re automatically entered for a chance to win free art. My work heavily focuses on struggle and triumph of the human spirit. I know that means those that connect with the creations may be struggling as well, and I want to offer you the hope and inspiration you need in the ways that I can…through my dreams.

Some people don’t realize just how massive some of my creations are. If you’re looking for some BIG art (or smaller affordable prints), I’ve got you covered. Whether for the home or office, I’m fully licensed, insured, and can provide turnkey service not just locally, but worldwide. In many cases, art for offices can be written off as decorating expenses. If you’re in the market for art, I will work with your budget to bring your dream to fruition while providing you a fantastic investment opportunity. Original art, canvas prints, decor, wall murals, wallpaper, live painting for corporate & private events, and more available from Carini Arts.

The “Beautiful Accidents” are based upon the Japanese aesthetic concepts of wabi-sabi and shibui.

The “10 Year Table Canvas” spans a decade of visions, creations, and more than 10 bodies of work. Within its depths lie the tangible blood, sweat, and tears of this man beneath the paint. It is a deeply textured and layered history in its purest and most raw form. Encompassing hundreds of paintings that paradoxically unite to create one, it is nothing short of an intimate self portrait of myself, the Acrylic Alchemist.

I think this is one of my most special and valuable pieces. For 10 years, I wiped my palette knife on my table and this is the result. There is a piece of every single painting from over a decade in this one piece, essentially making it a collective portfolio of sorts. The energy is raw and palpable. The textures are insane and represent a three dimensional map of my life. I can still pinpoint certain paintings I was working on at certain times and stages of my life, from the bottom and the top, within this painting. Although I generally don’t allow people to touch my paintings because of the damage caused by oils from the hands, this is a painting I insist that people touch. It will touch you.

I will be bringing this painting to KAABOO Del Mar and allowing people to touch it! Interested in this original or a canvas print of it? Check it out HERE

“Light Of The Shadow Caster” reflects upon the dichotomy and duality that existing within all of us. Where there is darkness, there is light. Where there is light, there is darkness. It’s just a matter of perspective and which you allow to dominate you and your life. Don’t like where you are? Change it. You cannot wait for someone to change your life for you because you may be waiting forever. Change your own life. Be your own light. When you learn to do it yourself, nobody can ever take it away from you and if you ever fall back into the darkness, you will know wholeheartedly that you can pull yourself out.

When is the best time to change your life? Yesterday. When is the next best time? Today. Yesterday’s tomorrow has already arrived so tomorrow is no longer a valid excuse.

This painting held another unexpected treasure when I rolled it out and discovered the handprints of my best friend and muse, Deanne Hastings, who tragically disappeared in 2015. It is suspected that she was murdered but there has been no closure. Those handprints, from the very last time she visited me, now hover above me and protect me in my studio as I work. It is a way for me to keep Deanne and her beautiful energy alive.

“The Up-Side of Down” was inspired by a 2009 assault and battery that hospitalized me with multiple facial fractures, severe eye trauma, and a concussion. My signature icon, which I saw flashing in my head during the concussive state, is a key repeating element in this series that represents life growing from death and discovering the positives in negatives.

“It’s Always Okay Until It’s Not” reflects upon how, often in life, out of sight is out of mind and things aren’t a problem in our eyes or minds until they are. Sometimes we see it coming and sometimes we don’t. When it hits though, it is up to us to make it right.

This reminds me why I do what I do. It’s not always about me. In fact, it’s usually not. It’s for all the kids and kids inside of us bigger kids that have a dream. It’s not always easy and it doesn’t always work out, but that’s why it’s a dream and dreams are worth making sacrifices and taking chances.
