And maybe things haven’t worked out for you so far…But just imagine how wonderful it’s going to be when they do.

I love your work! I'm 31 and already have a bachelor's in biology and will soon (hopefully) be pursuing a PhD in microbiology. But I've caught an interest in abstract painting and want to explore it as a side career. I just see great works and become overwhelmed and think "I'll never get to that level!" I don't know where to start! Do you have any advice for late starter?

Thank you! There’s no real secret and really no such thing as a late start when it comes to art. You start now, where you are, with what you have. Do a little bit each day, even if it’s just a few minutes. Start conditioning the patterns, habits, and behaviors. You can catch up on experience if you want by putting in larger amounts of time. Don’t be concerned about the level of anyone else. You are only competing with yourself and the only level that matters is your own. The sooner you get started, the sooner you can level up and build your confidence. You have to push that fear aside and work through it. People don’t have to see everything you do, but I would encourage you to share it so people (mainly you) can watch that growth and you can condition yourself to push through the road blocks currently deterring you. You’ve got this. Now get started!
