Temple Wall Relief Fragment

Thin section of limestone decorated with a yellow star on a blue background probably representing the night sky. Excavated by Professor Flinders Petrie at the ruined temple, beside the ancient town of Lahun, which flourished in the 19th and 18th centuries BC, around the pyramid complex of King Senusret II.

Middle Kingdom, 12th Dynasty, ca. 1877-1870 BC.
